The Seed Library was discontinued in 2020.

UMA Seed Library

Established in 2018, the UMA Seed Library is a collection of vegetable seeds made available to the community for personal use. In collaboration with the UMA-Augusta Community Garden Club and UMA-Bangor Community Garden, the Seed Library was initially stocked with organic seeds from FedCo Seeds in Clinton, Maine. Seeds are available at both the Bangor and Augusta campuses.

The UMA Seed Library is a “seed share,” which means that library patrons are allowed to borrow seeds to start their own gardens. Through this seed share effort, UMA and the UMA Libraries are supporting sustainability. As part of our sustainability mission, we ask that when borrowers are able to, they bring back part of their harvest to share with the campus, or they harvest seeds to be returned to the seed library.
